The Challenge

April 2, 2008

Clinicians in every field struggle to stay current with research. For naturopaths, it’s even harder. Why? The resources aren’t as plentiful and in some cases, don’t exist. In addition, NDs must stay up-to-date with allopathic and CAM studies. Below are suggestions for using this website effectively. The Blogroll is simply another name for websites. This symbol  denotes a news (RSS) feed.

Review the General Tips page and choose one or two ideas in order to get started.
Peruse the CAM and Biomedical journals pages and subscribe to the ones most relevant and affordable. In some cases, you can subscribe to tables of contents for free.
Run searches in the Free Scholarly Journals directories until you’re comfortable navigating them. Keep them simple and refer to HELP to increase your efficiency.
Click on Database Options and decide whether you should subscribe to one or more.
Invest some time into setting up news (RSS) feeds. Your efforts will be quickly rewarded in terms of time saved in the future.
Click on the MEDLINE page and set up a MY NCBI account in order to save your searches and receive email updates on topics of interest.
Review your Continuing Medical Education options and decide in advance what is affordable and will benefit you the most.
Contact your friendly librarian if you have any questions.
